looking for advice from my peers

Posted by admin to Uncategorized

When I tried to check the armory it was of course down, so this advice should be taken just at face value. As far as getting into the groove of things, you’re more likely to start getting more invites from groups if you’re good with your traps; and that doesn’t mean you have to be SV spec’d, just know how to trap and hold onto mobs. As far as gear goes, don’t worry to much about getting that perfect piece of gear, just take what comes from quests and instances and remember never never never take anything with +strength on it.
As far as end game stuff goes, I think that you’ve still got quite a ways to go, since you’re only 62. Now if you’re extremely talented or have just an insane amount of time to play and level your character you might be able to make it to 70 and get some decent blues from the lvl 70 dungeons to make it viable for you to run a few heroics or get in on a kara run, but for the most part, I’d just keep on doing what you’re doing and not worry about raiding since in less than a month kara and pretty much most outland raids will become a lot more quiet since everyone will either be running to lvl to 80 or working on their new death knight only guilds.
Plus the nice thing about being a hunter is that you can solo most quests that call for 2-3 players depending on your gear and overall talent as a player. I’ll try and post something better when the armory comes back upok… Level 62 Hunter.
I have tried to group as much as possible in the lifespan of this toon but you all probably realize thats easier than it sounds playing that role.
I find myself at a loss as to where to progress now. I am trying to max my gathering professions and level my way to 70 but it just feels like there is sooooo much I’ve missed. Where should a guy like me attempt to get back into the groove? I’d love to see end game content either old world or BC stuff but feel I may be undergeared. Can someone take a peek at my hunter and tell me what the hell I shold be doing or if I should change my main to my 36 priest and start semi fresh with her?
What I am really asking is if there is any hope what so ever for me lol…

Arcturis the Spirit Bear

Posted by admin to Uncategorized

I take no responsilbility for catching him or anything… just letting other people with know where he is located at on the PTR…
safrienaer from the maniasarcania forums wrote:I’m happy to announce that I finally found and tamed the supposed new Spirit Beast. He’s a rare spawn elite named Arcturis and shares all the skills and talents with the other Spirit Beasts (which makes me sad, really :( ). As of now he doesn’t have any special sound effects – he sounds just like any other bear.
He spawned in Grizzly Hills just north of Amberpine Lodge. As I’ve been too lazy to install TomTom on the PTR, I took a screenshot.

the sp is all about survival. youoT on healers,oEx on melee’s that’rehasing you other arena members.orruptionCoAshon life on whatever you’re trying to kill. oh and never dot up their healer for iase your mage poly’srogue blinds e… oh and you use drain life generally to dps, though your priority over dpsing is to keep the healerC’d ounterspelled your team members unC’d e…
Hey there. I’m a 70 Lk and I’ve tried just about every sp, and I have to say that I think SLSL’s the way to go, easily. I saw your build and I’d honestly say that you may wanna try a 24370 Build like this one I use. wowheadom?talent=Iq…ZbzIiz0es Basally the way I see SLSL is as the best way to maxamize your DOT damage with best survivability. Now personally I like to use the Scy for the bonus damage and sede, but that’s just my playstyle. I will say, though (And I know I’ll get flamed) I’m ~1.2k Spell Damage and ~18% spellrit in myurrent gear mix and running instaes and sh I do very well on damageharts with her out.oA,orrupt, SL, Immol, SB, SB, SB, Immol, orrupt, you get the pture. But, after everything, my favorite part about the build is that Ian do anything I want. I’m not afraid of anyone in PVP, I do well in Kara, and Ian run into aave, DOT everything I see, and giggle while 67′s fall around me and I still have more than 50% HPMP to get an Adamantite node. Overall itomes down to your playstyle. I’m an aggressive front-row fighter so this works for me. Shon Life so many people that you’re getting 1k hp bk a tk with a pet out that’s taking 20% of your taken damage and still having a maximum damageorruption,oA, and a 3.4kritting SB ain’t too shabby. I normally DOT everything I see and only stop to burn down healers with DOT’s, Immol, and SB. The SLSL is a very overwhelming build and if you’re thinking of going that route I highly suggest 2437. Affltion build, and made note that I need to

Posted by admin to Uncategorized

Thanks again :) I did a resp to a mostly Affltion build, and made note that I need to look for some spell hit items. Also will be working on some ehants for my gear as I get time and money to do so. Between gearing my Tankadin for hydross and farming for my Hunter’s Ebon NetheraleNetherdrake Helm – we’ll see ;) And I know my sp probably isn’t “ideal”, but I really wanted to keep my utility with the Improved Healthstone and Imp. Not got to test it out yet, but we’ll see how it goes :)
Gonna have to disagree with Twirdman. Ruin wo going deeper into destro and with your gear is not going to provide equal dps to UA. Go 41020 and get realomfy wahing your dot timer. Link to this Feb 3rd 2008 11:00am : Logged Reply to this La14 Dent
What he said ^^
Ok, I tried out this resp, and I saw a slight irease to my overall DPS, but I’m still running down around 4th in Kara. Is this where a Warlk (Affl) generally is sitting? I do my best to keep my DoTs running at all times on boss fights and the trash with higher health pools, and for trash that die off pretty fast I generally put up aorruption, maybe Shon Life as well, then start throwing Shadow Bolts. Is this “proper”, or should I rethink my spell rotation a bit? My apologies for seeming kind of noobish. I started asking for advise from one of our guild’s Lks, but never got any responses from him :( So, I really appriate the responses here :)
About what is your raid makeup and how are they geared. If you are in a high DPS grp and they out gear you Iould see you being 4th; however, that does seem a little low. Also no offense but skill is a very important thing and itould just be bause they are better. My romendation would be to gear up and get a little prte. Also unless your guild spifally asked you really don’t need shadow embre or iHot. Again hope that helps. Anti-Aliased: From Captain America to the whirling dervish, dual-specs discussed

Posted by admin to Uncategorized

It’s not too often that I actually get mail dropped in my box. My column is usually so loudmouthed that people just usually complain in the comment box instead of taking the time to send me a well worded e-mail. However, one of our intrepid readers, Patrick, actually sent along a question to my inbox, which I’ll happily relate to you now.

“Do you have any thoughts on dual specs in WoW? I thought this was ugly towards the *World* of Warcraft – anyone could be anything at any time with no real choice / consequences for those choices. Blizzard is moving further and further away from an immersive game to being a game about ‘gaming the system’ behind the game. Additionally, it seems like Blizz spends more time on shifting mechanics (and keeping players occupied with adapting) than in making really interesting and rewarding (not loot, but the more ephemeral ‘rewards’) content for their players.”

Actually Patrick, I’ve been milling over this for some time now. While the initial concepts of dual-specs were put in place to alleviate the gold crunch and hassle of re-specs, the system has evolved much further beyond its initial structure. Some of those things I wholeheartedly welcome, but others I’m wary of. So let’s talk about dual-specs, and why the system is beginning to really, really break.
What are dual specs, and what the hell is that title all about?

So, for those who aren’t all on the WoW news train, dual specs, or second talent specialization, is an ability that a player can purchase for 1000 gold at level 40 or beyond. It allows the player to create a second tree of talents, a second pane of glyphs, and a second assembly of abilities/hotbars that the player can switch between at almost any time. Just press a button and poof, your character now has the talent tree of a healer, or poof, your character now has the talent tree of a tank.

As for the title, I’m a paladin. I’m a paladin who likes to be a protection specialized tank or a crazed retribution damage dealer. As a tank, I throw my shield angrily (like Captain America) and as a damage dealer I like to spin around in circles with holy energy (like a whirling dervish.) With dual-specs enabled, I can switch between the two every five seconds in Naxxramas, if I really wanted to.

First the good news

Dual-specs, in and of themselves, are not bad design in the least. The players are doing it anyway, and they’re paying a huge amount of money to do so. It only makes sense to just put it in, as they’re going to do something of the sort with the current system even if this new idea never goes live.

“Without any doubt, the addition of dual specs is a good gameplay design decision.”

It also alleviates the stress placed on parties who can’t find the right person to fill that last slot. Say you want to take two of your friends to a 5 man instance, but both of them are tanks. Normally, you’d only be taking one of them to keep that “perfect party balance.” Certainly the other one may be able to come along in some cases, but not always. With dual-specs, this problem is quickly eliminated. Someone can just switch over to their other spec and be done with it.

Without any doubt, the addition of dual specs is a good gameplay design decision. But, has it been properly implemented by the team?

And now the bad news

In my opinion, no, the team has not implemented the change-over process in a balanced manner. While being able to switch your spec at any time seems like a good idea, the practice may become very different.

In other games that allow a change in class abilities, such as Final Fantasy XI or Runes of Magic, the system is regulated by distance. Changing abilities can only be done by visiting a town in these games, giving players the ability to switch during their combat downtime, but making sure players can’t quickly switch abilities in the field.

So you like the

Posted by admin to Uncategorized

Now we’re getting somewhere. So you like the felguard and a little bit of affltion. My first though was go for Soul link and devide the other points over AffDestro. But seeying as you want the felguard… Just realize that the felguard needs support or it be that good. Like Demon Res, perhaps even Mana feed. And impoA is not really that good. Max out Demon Embre as said by lath. If youan resist the urge of having a felguard, then you got alot of different ways to go. (scubus out for extra damage andc or even an imp) No need for demon resilliae then, i think. Perhaps this 1843 build
Here ya go for an impscy build.
Don’t like scy, but I do like your first build. I’ve altered it slightly for this. Bause: a) do I need 2 points in suppression really? I know I do now, but is it nessary? b)orruption I like, so feel the boost is a good idea. ) While the idea of pring Nightfall and spamming SBs is ne, it’s not a good way of managing aggro is it! So just now and then is fine by me, hee the single point. (and I’d still be tempted to put it bk into Drain Soul!) You don’t thinkoA is worth spending the points on – why? Justurious.
For a Felguard build, with a bit of Affltion, Id go like this: wowheadom?talent=IV…bzIizMesz Something both of you left out is Mana Feed, at least 13 is almost needed, and 23 is where most people settle at, and most agree 33 is too mh. Gotta keep your Felguards mana up too, and that is the best way, you Life Tap, you both get mana, you Drain and hopefully get Nightfall prs while doing so. I am also not a big fan of Demon Tts, I don’t rely onrits, and most of what Iast is DoTs whhan’trit anyway. Sure it’s ne when SBsrit, but I’d rather have Nightfall and Grim Reh. Just my personal preferee though.
